🏒 2026 MRH GRAND REOPENING DRAFT TOURNAMENT

WE’RE BACK.

The rink renovations are wrapping up, and there’s only one proper way to break in the new surface — spend an entire day playing hockey on it.

Join us Saturday, September 5th for the MRH Grand Reopening Draft Tournament! This will be a one-day, Ironman-style tournament built around competitive hockey, balanced teams and, most importantly, getting the entire MRH community back together at the rink.

Bring your tents, chairs, coolers and battery-powered fans. We’ll have concessions, food trucks, some BBQ and plenty going on throughout the day. Come ready to play some hockey, hang out and celebrate the reopening of our rink.

🌧️ WEATHER: Sunday, September 6th will serve as our rainout/makeup date if Saturday cannot be played.

Registration closes August 31st.

Players register INDIVIDUALLY — you do NOT register for a specific team.

After registration closes, captains will draft balanced teams between September 1st–3rd. Final rosters and schedules will be released by September 4th.

Have someone you really want to play with? Let us know during registration and we'll try to accommodate requests, but there are no guarantees. The goal is balanced teams and a fun tournament for everyone.

Depending on registration numbers and skill levels, MRH may create multiple divisions or run one mixed-skill division.

🏒 TOURNAMENT FORMAT

• 6–8 skaters + goalie per team
• 3 guaranteed Round Robin games + Playoffs
• Games scheduled in 30-minute blocks
• Two 10-minute running-clock periods
• 2-minute intermission
• Faceoff to begin each period
• 8-goal mercy rule
• Round Robin games may end in a tie
• Playoff ties go directly into Golden Goal overtime

Round Robin Points:
Win = 2 points | Tie = 1 point | Loss = 0 points

Tiebreakers: Points → Wins → Goal Differential → Goals Against → Goals For

⚡ IRONMAN-STYLE RULES

The clock runs continuously and only stops for injuries or goalie equipment issues.

After goals and goalie freezes, possession begins behind the net. The defending team must retreat to the faceoff dots until the offensive team crosses its own goal line.

Puck shot directly out of play = possession to the opposing team. If a defending player blocks/deflects the puck out, the referee will provide a new puck to the offensive team, but in the neutral zone to resume play.

All penalties are penalty shots. The clock continues to run during the penalty shot. After the attempt, play is dead and possession begins behind the defending team's net.

Referees will enforce unsportsmanlike conduct for players who argue, harass or are disrespectful toward officials.

This isn't meant to be some ultra-serious tournament.

It's our first big event back at the newly renovated rink.

Play some hockey. Break in the new surface. Fire up the BBQ. Hang under the tents. Talk some smack. Meet some new teammates. And enjoy having the MRH community back together again.
